A forward-thinking executive with extensive experience in health care administration, providing strategic, fiscal, and operational stewardship for non-profit, health, human services and affordable housing organizations. Â
Mr. Kaplan’s commitment to the broader New York community is evidenced by his committee and board participation in numerous service organizations. In 2023, he was appointed to the New York State Master Plan on Aging Stakeholder Advisory Committee. He served on the Board of Directors of LeadingAge New York, where he was President of the statewide Housing Cabinet. Mr. Kaplan is active in LeadingAge, Washington, D.C. where he serves on the Center for Aging Services Technology (CAST). He is an ardent advocate for the development of senior housing with services models. He is a past Treasurer of the Board of the Global Ageing Network.Â
Locally, Mr. Kaplan Co-Chaired UJA-Federation of New York’s Federation Agency Executive Network where he continues to contribute to various program and network committees. Prior to Selfhelp, Mr. Kaplan was Executive Vice President at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children serving children with special health care needs and terminal illnesses.
A recognized thought leader in aging and human services, Mr. Kaplan has written and presented on topics including nonprofit ethics, Holocaust survivors, senior housing with services, gerontechnology, subacute care and palliative care for adults and children. In April 2026, he added author to his accomplishments with the publication of The Aging Advantage: The 7 New Stages of Aging, which he co-author with Marcus Riley. Released in April 2026, the book offers a new framework for understanding longevity and navigating the opportunities and challenges of longer lives.
Mr. Kaplan holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Bernard M. Baruch College and is a past President of the Bernard M. Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine Health Care Administration Alumni Association.
